Course: Home
Cuisine: Autumn
Author: Tiffany McCauley

  • 1 quart wide-mouth mason jar
  • 1 medium whole orange
  • 1 medium whole apple
  • 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • 2-3 whole cinnamon sticks

  • Cut the apple and orange into ¼” slices.
  • Add apple and orange slices to your wide mouth jar, arrange them around the outside to create a pretty display.
  • Add in cinnamon sticks, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla. If you like a stronger scent you might add a Tablespoon or so of clove to add a bit of spice.
  • Finally, top the jar with water up to the shoulder.
  • Place the jar in the fridge until ready to use, it should be good for 3-5 days refrigerated.

To Use:

  • Pour contents of jar into a pot and simmer over low.
  • Once I begin a batch in a pot I turn it on for an hour or so, I can reuse it and get a good scent for about 2-3 days depending on how long it is simmered each time. Cover with a lid when not in use.
  • If you will be gifting your stovetop potpourri add a pretty bow and a handmade tag.
